Beauty assignment 8/10/21

 1.) I encountered beauty while sitting on my deck in December enjoying my morning coffee and the surrounding scenery. There was a fresh blanket of snow covering the ground and trees. The snow, acting as a sponge, absorbed all sound, making it so quiet that you could hear a pin drop. As I gazed through the trees, I couldn’t tell where the sky ended and the ground began. 

I felt a sense of peace in the silence. I could feel the brisk winter air against my face, causing my cheeks to turn rosy. I could feel the heat from the hot coffee warming my hands, making the cold almost unnoticeable.  


2.) Another instance where I encountered beauty was when my family and I were driving back home on a two-lane interstate freeway. There were forests on either side of the road, but you wouldn’t know because it was totally dark, the only light coming from the headlights and flashes of lightning in the distance. The lightning highlighted the outline of the trees, making snapshots of the treeline every couple of seconds. 

I felt a combination of calm and wonder. Riding in the back of the car, the smooth road and the hum of the car put me in a 

3.) I encountered beauty while looking at the light streaming through the stained glass windows in my home church. The sunlight shone through the glass reflecting an array of blended colors on the pews and the floor.
